About the Event
This is an intentionally closed event in order to cultivate space in which a small participant group can dive into intersectionality and interdependence through the embodiment tools of Theater of the Oppressed. The event will be facilitated by Ali Brooks and Rose Spolar of Venus Alchemy School of Healing Arts.
Ali has training in Theater of the Oppressed and has facilitated dozens of workshops using these techniques, particularly in the area of anti-racism with white people. Rose was a member of Multico at West High School as a teenager, studied theater in college and has long been curious in and passionate about theater as a tool for social change.
This event is open to anyone and previous experience with Theater of the Opprssed is not required. Please note that these tools can bring up trauma that is held in the body. We strive to create a trauma-informed space and participants will have choice throughout in order to facilitate an environment of support and empowerment. An intersectional lens around race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability, religion, power and oppression will be used in this workshop. Ali and Rose both identify as white and cisgender women.
